The building is located in the town centre and is one of its most significant buildings. It was the seat of the convent of the Augustinians who extended a construction that already existed in 1265. The palace housed: on the ground floor the sacristy, a cellar and the refectory, an oven and a cave used as a burial site, the first level for the friars and the second one for the novices. The Sacristy of San Salvatore can be accessed from the inside. In 1780, the building was renovated in a neoclassical style. It was also used as the seat of the town hall from 1880 to 1910. Over the course of time, the convent was used for many purposes: as a prison, barracks and even as an oven, and currently it is the seat of the post office and a middle school dedicated to “Giacinto Cestoni”, naturalist and pharmacist.
